Teo is a deleted character from Terra Nova. He was meant to be a police officer[2] who took away Jim Shannon's police badge. His apartment is sneaked into by Jim who asks for his money.
One scene with Teo was filmed, but it was cut from the final version of the series. The scene was included as bonus material on the DVDs, along with a number of other deleted scenes.
Creation and Development[]
In the original script for the pilot episode of Terra Nova, there was no mention of Teo.
In 2010, the pilot was rewritten and filmed. This version showed Jim Shannon walking in the packed streets of Chicago in 2149 and entering a building. This scene was briefly shown in the first promo trailers,[3] but cut from the series. Jim then walks up some flight of stairs and opens a door with an access card. He sneaks in, then points a gun to a man named Teo,[4] who is counting money on a table and is surprised that Jim is released from prison. Jim says he was released earlier for "good behavior", and Teo says he can't arrest him because he took Jim's badge away. Jim replies, "I'm not arresting you. I'm here for the money." He then drops a backpack next to Teo and notices a armed man behind him and shoots him. Afterwards, Jim points his gun to Teo's head and says, "money in the bag!".
In the final cut, Jim finds a backpack with money hidden in the streets of Chicago, with a pistol and ID badge inside. No explanation is given to who left the backpack for Jim to find it.
The first episode of Terra Nova was rewritten once more in 2011. Though a significant portion of the episode remained the same, some scenes were added and some were deleted. The one scene in which Teo had appeared was cut, thereby removing the character from the show. The scene was, however, included on the DVDs as bonus material; it can be found in the Deleted Scenes feature on the first disc. The feature includes a total of seven scenes from the first and second episode; the scene with Teo is the first of them.
