Cycadeoidea is a genus of plant that gives off a foul odor. When Mark Reynolds and Maddy Shannon were stuck far off from the colony because a meteor strike cut the power to their rover, they rubbed Cycadeoidea leaves and mud over themselves to avoid predators such as Carnotaurus, slashers, and Nykoraptors.
Cycadeoidea is a real genus of prehistoric plant. Its fossils show that, like cycads, it had a large inflorescence, and that it commonly grew much larger than the ones seen in Terra Nova (which likely have been cropped down by herbivorous animals).
